Foldable phones bend a flexible display thousands of times over their life. That is impressive engineering, but it means the inner screen is more delicate than a traditional glass-covered display.
What is normal
- A visible crease down the middle of the inner screen
- Slight reflections along the fold when viewed at an angle
- A factory-fitted protector on the inner screen
What is not
- Lines, black patches or flickering along the fold
- Bubbles or lifting of the inner protector
- Touch not registering in one area
- A hinge that grinds, feels gritty or no longer holds its angle
Leave the inner protector alone
Samsung advises against removing the pre-applied protector from the inner screen yourself. Peeling it off can damage the flexible panel underneath. If it is lifting or bubbling, have it replaced professionally.
Inner or outer screen repair
The outer cover screen is a smaller, more conventional repair. The inner folding display is a larger and more expensive part. We check both screens and the hinge before quoting, so you know exactly which repair your phone needs.
