General
How long does a repair take?
It depends on the device, the fault and the business. Some common repairs, such as screen and battery replacements on popular models, can be done the same day by some businesses; board-level work and data recovery usually take longer. Ask your chosen business for a realistic timescale before you leave the device.
Do I need to book an appointment?
It depends on the business. Some accept walk-ins and some prefer an appointment, and opening days differ. Check the business's page for its hours, and send an enquiry or call ahead to confirm it has the parts for your model.
What happens if the device cannot be fixed?
Each business sets its own terms. Some charge nothing if they cannot complete the repair; others charge for the assessment or for work already done. Ask before you agree to anything, and get the answer in writing if you can.
Is there a charge to diagnose the problem?
That is up to each business. Many do not charge to look at a device, but some charge for an assessment, particularly for board-level or data-recovery work. Ask the business before you leave your device.
What can I get repaired through Wepairs?
Listed businesses repair mobile phones, tablets, laptops and games consoles: screens, batteries, charging ports, cameras, HDMI ports, overheating, software problems and more. Each business records the device types it repairs on its page. Confirm your exact model and fault with the business before travelling.
Are genuine parts used?
It depends on the business and the repair. For many phone screens there is a choice of grades, from compatible replacements to manufacturer-original parts, at different prices. Ask the business which part it will fit, whether it is original or compatible, and whether the choice affects any features or the warranty.
Will I lose my data?
Most repairs, including screen and battery replacements, do not normally affect the data on a device. No repair is entirely without risk, though, and some faults, particularly liquid damage and storage failures, put data at risk whatever is done. Back up before you hand a device over.
Will I need to give my passcode?
Many businesses ask for it so they can test the device before and after the repair. If you would rather not share it, say so. The business can explain what it can and cannot test without it.
Can a device that is out of manufacturer warranty be repaired?
Usually, yes. Age matters less than whether parts are still available for your model and whether the repair is worth the cost. A business should tell you if it does not think a repair is worthwhile.
Pricing & payment
How much will my repair cost?
Each business sets its own price. Some device pages show catalogue prices from the Gadcet businesses as a guide; they are not a quote from every business. The final price depends on your exact model, the part chosen and the condition of the device. Confirm the quote with your chosen business before any work is carried out.
Why do some screen repairs have several prices?
Because there is often more than one grade of replacement screen. A compatible replacement usually costs least, a premium replacement is closer to the original in brightness and colour, and a manufacturer-original part costs most. Ask the business what each grade means for your model and whether the warranty differs between them.
Are prices shown on the website fixed?
No. Treat them as a guide. Where a price is shown, it comes from a named business's catalogue, and part prices change. The business confirms the actual price before starting, and you can decline at that point.
How do I pay?
You pay the repair business, not Wepairs. Payment methods and when payment is due vary by business, so check with it before your visit.
Is it better to repair or replace a broken phone?
Repairing is often cheaper when the damage is limited to one part and the phone otherwise works well, and it keeps a working device in use. Weigh up the age of the device, the repair cost, its overall condition and the cost of a replacement. A business can tell you if it thinks a repair is not worth doing.
Phone repairs
Can a cracked phone screen be repaired?
Yes, for most phones. The display assembly is replaced and should be tested for touch, brightness and colour before the phone is handed back. Ask which part grade will be fitted and whether features such as True Tone or an in-display fingerprint sensor will keep working.
Can a phone battery be replaced?
Yes, for most phones. If your phone drains quickly, shuts down before reaching 0% or only works while plugged in, a replacement battery often solves it. A good repairer checks the battery first, because charging and software faults can look similar. If the battery is swollen, stop using and charging the phone.
Can a charging port be fixed?
Often. Lint or debris in the port can stop a cable seating properly, so the port should be inspected and cleaned first. If it is damaged, the charging assembly is replaced.
What should I do if my phone gets wet?
Power it off and do not charge it. Dry the outside gently and do not use heat or rice. Liquid damage needs specialist assessment; ask a business whether it handles liquid-damaged devices before you take it in.
My screen still works but the glass is cracked. Does it need repairing?
It is worth doing. Cracked glass lets dust and moisture reach the display underneath, and cracks tend to spread. A screen that still works today can fail suddenly later, so repairing it early is usually the cheaper route.
What should I do if my screen is unresponsive?
Try a few things first. Restart the phone, as a temporary software glitch is a common cause. Take off any case or screen protector and clean the screen with a soft cloth. Make sure the battery is not flat. If none of that helps, the digitiser or display may have failed and needs assessing by a repair business.
Tablet & iPad repairs
Can iPads be repaired?
Yes. Listed businesses handle iPad screen and digitiser replacements, batteries, charging ports and cameras. Parts availability varies by model, so confirm your exact iPad model (shown in Settings, General, About) with the business.
Is an iPad screen repair different from a phone screen repair?
It generally takes longer. Tablet displays are larger and more heavily bonded to the frame, so they need more careful removal, and some tablet screen repairs cannot be done while you wait. Ask the business for a timescale.
What is the difference between the digitiser and the screen?
The digitiser is the glass layer that senses your touch; the display is the panel underneath that produces the picture. On some tablets they are separate parts, so if the glass is cracked but the picture is perfect, replacing the digitiser alone may be enough and cheaper. The business can check which your model needs.
Laptop repairs
Can MacBooks be repaired?
Yes. Listed businesses work on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, including screens, batteries, keyboards, charging faults, overheating and macOS reinstallation. Confirm your exact model (Apple menu, About This Mac) when you enquire.
Can a laptop screen be replaced?
Usually. Cracked, blank and flickering displays can normally be replaced, but the correct panel depends on your exact model. Give the business the model number when you enquire.
Can data be recovered from a laptop that will not start?
Often, but never guaranteed. It depends on the condition of the storage, which needs assessing first. Ask the business what the assessment costs and what happens if recovery is not possible.
My laptop is very slow. Can that be fixed?
Often. Slow start-up and sluggish loading on an older laptop are commonly caused by a mechanical hard drive or too little memory, both of which can often be upgraded. A business can check what your model supports.
Gaming consoles
Can PlayStation consoles be repaired?
Yes. Listed businesses repair PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, including HDMI ports, overheating, disc drives, power faults and controllers. Confirm your exact model (for example PS5, PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro) when you enquire.
Can Xbox consoles be repaired?
Yes. Listed businesses repair Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles, covering HDMI ports, overheating, disc drives, power faults and controllers. Confirm your model when you enquire.
Can a Nintendo Switch be repaired?
Yes. Switch repairs include screens, charging ports, batteries, game card readers and Joy-Con stick drift. Check with the business which Switch models it can source parts for.
Can an HDMI port be fixed?
Usually. A damaged HDMI port is replaced at board level. It is a soldering repair rather than a simple parts swap, so ask the business how it tests the video output afterwards.
What causes stick drift on a controller?
Normal wear, in most cases. The analogue stick module contains contacts that degrade over time, so the controller reads movement when the stick is at rest. Replacing the module resolves it.
Data & privacy
How should I back up my device before a repair?
On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then iCloud Backup, and run a backup. On many Android phones, backup is under Settings, then System or Google, then Backup; the exact wording varies by manufacturer. You can also connect the device to a computer and copy your photos and files across. Check the backup has completed before you hand the device over.
Is data recovery available?
Some listed businesses offer it. Recovery may be possible from a device that will not start or a drive that is no longer recognised, but outcomes depend on the condition of the storage and are never guaranteed. Ask the business how it assesses the device and what it charges.
What happens to my personal data during a repair?
Ask the business how it handles your data. A careful repairer accesses only what it needs to test the repair and tells you beforehand if the device will need wiping. Back up and, where possible, remove anything sensitive before handing the device over.
Warranty
Is there a warranty on repairs?
Warranties are provided by the business that carries out the repair, not by Wepairs. Length and cover vary by business and sometimes by part grade. Ask for the warranty terms before agreeing to the repair, and keep your receipt.
What is not covered by the warranty?
It depends on the business's terms. Warranties commonly exclude new accidental damage, liquid damage and faults unrelated to the original repair, and data recovery is rarely warranted in the same way. Ask the business to confirm what its warranty covers.
Will repairing my phone void the manufacturer's warranty?
It can. Manufacturers may refuse warranty cover on a part repaired by anyone other than themselves or an authorised provider. If your device is still under manufacturer warranty and the fault might be covered, contact the manufacturer first. If it is out of warranty, or the damage is accidental and not covered anyway, this matters less.
Do I need my receipt to claim under the warranty?
Bring your repair receipt if you have it, as it makes tracing the original repair quicker. If you have lost it, contact the business that did the repair; it may be able to find the record.

When are listed businesses open?
Opening hours differ between businesses. Each business's page shows its hours for the week. Check with the business before travelling, particularly on Sundays and bank holidays.
Which business should I choose?
Choose one that lists your device type and is convenient for you. Each page shows the address, hours and the devices the business has listed. Check it can repair your exact model before you travel.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Bring the device, its passcode, and its charger if the fault is charging-related. Take out your SIM and memory card beforehand. If you are returning about an earlier repair, bring the receipt.
