Privacy policy

Clear information about your repair, your rights and how we look after your data.

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This notice explains how Wepairs uses personal information when you browse the website, contact us, book an appointment, ask a listed repair business to contact you, take part in the Repair Community, tell us about a completed repair or use a repair service.

Who is responsible for your information

Wepairs is responsible for the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us about privacy at support@gadcet.com or by calling 01708 922786.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use our services, we may collect your name, email address, mobile number, selected store, appointment details, device type, brand and model, reported fault, repair choices, notes and marketing preference. We also keep the booking reference and operational record needed to manage the repair.

A device left for repair may contain personal information. Please back it up and remove or sign out of accounts where practical. We only need access that is relevant to diagnosing, testing or carrying out the service you request.

If you ask a listed repair business to contact you, we collect your name, email address, phone number, postcode, device, chosen repair, any preferred visit time and any notes you add, and we give the enquiry a reference so you can track it.

If you post in the Repair Community, we collect the name and email address you give, your message, its topic and any photos you upload. If you answer one of our repair follow-up emails, we record whether your repair is complete, your star rating and any comment.

Why we use it

We use booking and contact information to arrange appointments, provide diagnostics and repairs, communicate about the service, manage warranty or support queries, keep appropriate business records and protect the booking service from misuse.

We use enquiry information to pass your request to the business you chose, to let you track the enquiry, and to check afterwards whether the repair was completed. We use Repair Community contributions to run and moderate the community, look into reports and prevent spam or abuse. We use repair reviews to show other customers how a business has performed.

Our lawful bases

We process information where it is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract or to perform our repair contract with you. We may also use information for our legitimate interests in answering enquiries, passing an enquiry to the business you asked to contact you, running and moderating the Repair Community, asking whether a repair was completed and how the business did, showing genuine customer reviews, operating and securing the service, preventing misuse and managing customer support. We rely on consent for optional marketing and for non-essential cookies or similar technologies where they are enabled.

Marketing

Marketing is optional and is not a condition of booking a repair. The booking form uses a separate, unticked choice. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time by contacting support@gadcet.com.

A repair follow-up email is a one-off service message about your own enquiry, not marketing. We send at most one per enquiry, never a reminder, and every one includes a link to stop future follow-up emails.

Asking a business to contact you

Wepairs lists independent repair businesses. When you ask one of them to contact you, we share your contact details and repair enquiry with that business only, so it can get in touch. The business provides the repair, sets its own prices and terms and is responsible for how it handles your information once it has it. Wepairs is not the repairer.

Repair Community

When you post a question, reply or repair experience, your chosen name, message, photos, posting date and any badge assigned by Wepairs are public. Your email address is never published. Please do not include contact details, passwords, device identifiers or other private information in a message or photo.

Automated checks can hold a contribution for staff review. Moderators can assign badges, publish, hide or remove contributions and block repeat abuse; to do that we keep hashed (one-way) versions of email and network addresses rather than a second copy of the address itself. We do not send community reply notifications by email.

Discussions can appear in search engines once a verified repairer or the Wepairs team has answered, or an administrator has approved them. Removing a discussion from Wepairs does not immediately remove copies that search engines or other people have already made.

Repair follow-up and reviews

After an enquiry made through Wepairs, we may send one email asking whether your repair is complete and how you rate the business, normally 24 hours after the repair is booked. The private link in the email identifies your enquiry and expires after 60 days.

If you confirm the repair with a rating, the enquiry is marked complete and your review is published showing your first name, rating, comment and date next to the business, separately from any Google reviews. If you tell us the repair is not finished, we let the business know and publish nothing. Reviews may be held for moderation, and a business can ask us to look into one, but only Wepairs can hide a review.

Who we share information with

Information is available to authorised Wepairs staff who need it to manage the appointment, repair, enquiry or community. The repair business you ask to contact you receives your enquiry as described above. We may use service providers that host or support the website, its databases and customer communications; they may process information only for the service they provide to us. Where you have accepted analytics cookies, Google Analytics processes usage information for us as described in the Cookie Policy. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. If you use the language menu to translate a page, the text of that page is sent to Google to provide the translation.

How long we keep it

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide the service, answer support and warranty questions, maintain appropriate repair and accounting records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. The period depends on the type of record and why it is held. Contact us if you want information about the retention criteria for a particular record.

Community contributions stay published until they are removed by moderation or at your request. Hashed identifiers used to block abuse are kept for as long as the block is needed. Follow-up requests and review responses are kept with the enquiry they relate to, and a request to stop follow-up emails is kept so that we can honour it. The 60-day expiry of a review link does not delete these records.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict or object to its use, and receive information in a portable format. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent. You can also ask us to remove a community post or a review you wrote. To make a request, email support@gadcet.com. Our UK GDPR and your data rights page explains each right, and how we handle requests, in more detail.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can investigate. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data-protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and browser storage

The Cookie Policy explains the cookies and browser storage used by this website, including the session storage that keeps your repair selections during a booking.
